A couple months ago, we shared about Eli, a student at Sierra College, who decided to follow Jesus, and the importance of never assuming someone’s spiritual life based on attendance. After hearing about Eli’s story, Michael, one of the volunteers on our team, realized he had a similar situation with a student in his Bible study. 

Zayn (pictured above with his dog) is an older student at Folsom Lake College (FLC) who just moved to the area and is studying bioengineering. Before college, he served in the Navy for four years and toured the world on multiple deployments. He saw a lot of things that confused him about life and spirituality during that time, and he retired to the States feeling lost. Then God brought him to Folsom for Spring semester, where he connected with Michael and Cru at FLC.  

Michael saw Zayn’s openness and curiosity from the start. He seemed like a spiritually hungry Christian, coming to Bible study and trying to sort out his life. After hearing about Steven’s experience with Eli, Michael decided to share the gospel with Zayn to see if he had ever made the decision to follow Jesus too. 

Zayn had heard a lot about Christianity and had been reading the Bible, but this was the first time someone had laid out the good news for him so succinctly and invited him to respond. He prayed right then and there to receive Christ into his life! And just a couple weeks later, Zayn got baptized!  

Praise God for these fruitful gospel conversations and students like Zayn who are passing from death to new life!

• Praise God for Zayn’s new life in Christ and the growth he has been experiencing since then! 

• Pray for God to work in our students lives as they transition to summer and some go on missions, some find jobs, and some take classes. Pray they grow in their faith and continue to share God with those around them. Tyler (shown in the bottom picture, middle in glasses), who helped lead a dorm study with Cameron, is preparing to go to Japan as a Cru intern for one year. Pray for him as he raises support and gets ready!
