Fall Retreat Leads to Surrender

Taylor (left) with Cameron

“Coming to Sac State has been like a clean slate for me,” Taylor said as we sat across from each other in the union on campus. Taylor (above) moved from SoCal in September thinking Sacramento would be a place where she could be free from expectations and free to live however she wanted. But, she quickly found that while she could live however she wanted, she was far from “free.” Taylor describes herself as having grown up on Jesus, but had wandered from Him in her pursuit of getting a good job, having security, and having fun. And the freedom she was hoping for felt all wrong.

When Taylor met our group, she was hesitant, wondering if Cru was the place for her. She wanted to grow in her faith, but still felt tempted to live for things other than God. But then she decided to come to Fall Retreat.

Taylor was one of 130 students  from schools in Sacramento (pictured below) and Chico State who traveled to a camp in Mt. Lassen for a weekend of hearing from God’s word, worshipping in the cold mountain air, and connecting deeply with each other. They learned about the gospel’s power to save, the Holy Spirit’s empowering presence, and God’s plan to reach the world with His love.

Taylor came away from Fall Retreat with a renewed sense of freedom in Christ! God is calling her to live a life “set apart” from the world and culture, and to share the good news of Jesus’ of love to those around her.

Praise God for drawing Taylor back to himself! Please join us in praying for Taylor and for the work God is doing in her life!
